Is it possible for us to live a completely holy life? With the sinful nature of man, are we even capable of it? Imagine the outpouring of God’s power in our lives if we were, the great potential we could attain by living totally surrendered to the deity, the authority, the power, the love and the personhood of the Holy Spirit! But we don’t have to just imagine it. We can look to the one person who has come before us, the one person who set the example on how to live a holy life. That example is Jesus.
In order to completely understand this picture, we much first accept that Jesus, while in His pre-incarnate state, was completely equal with God. In His incarnate state, He was just as completely human. It is a great mystery which the human/carnal mind cannot comprehend – God who is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent – could become finite and live in (as) human flesh. Let me clarify. It is not that Jesus (God the Son) shrunk His deity inside a human body to live human until He was tempted or had a supernatural need then tapped into His God nature to overcome and then back to being human when it was over. No. He laid down all that made Him God – His glory, eternity, omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence. He became as human as you and I (minus the fallen nature we inherited from Adam) and remained in His human nature all the days of His life on the earth. Jesus became qualified as Savior by living a sinless life, by overcoming every temptation and remaining completely obedient to the plan of the Father. All of these accomplishments would have been nullified if Jesus had accomplished them as God.
How then did He live such a perfect life? What did Jesus (the human) do differently than every other human that came before and after Him? What did Jesus know? It is easier to see Jesus as one who can relate to our weaknesses because He himself was tempted in all the same ways that we are tempted. What we fail to see is the reason Jesus overcame. Jesus lived a perfect sinless life because He completely gave Himself over to the Holy Spirit. He (Jesus) recognized that the Holy Spirit is the all-knowing, almighty and eternal God (person) within us. It is this combustible combination of surrender and “revelation” of the person of the Holy Spirit that propelled Jesus’ powerful lifestyle. When we completely surrender our life and make the Holy Spirit our very best friend, then the life of Christ will be realized in our personal life.
Now that you have received the revelation, are you willing to surrender your all to the Holy Spirit so that you too can experience the supernatural life that God has available for you?
